Abstract

This paper presents an estimation of core loss in a single-phase transformer in order to study the corelosses of M4 and M5 grain oriented magnetic steel size when the input voltage waveforms are sinusoidal andnon-sinusoidal. The steel and Epstein test apparatus are energized by a single-phase inverter. The real current, voltage, power and other parameters are measured by a Fluke 41B power quality meter and a Yokogawa DL 1520oscilloscope. The results show the difference of core losses of both steels, under different waveforms. The steelselection is determined by the waveform qualities and the economic reasons.
