Digital Watermarking Method Based on Luminance Modification in Amplitude Modulation

Abstract

A watermark embedding method based on luminance modification is proposed in thispaper. Beside of three color components contained within an image: red, green and blue, whichare normally used to carry a watermark signal, the luminance is another component that wasconsidered to convey the watermark signal. Moreover, in the embedding process, a techniquebased on Gaussian pixel-weighting marks was used to improve the quality of the watermarkedimage. In the retrieval method, the image filtering techniques such as lowpass filtering wereutilized to extract the watermark signal, with no need of original image. The experimental resultsshowed that a higher performance could be obtained when applying our proposed method in bothembedding and retrieval processes.
