Abstract

The objective of this work is to study the distribution of coal particle in three phase spouted bed. The effect of air velocity (ranging from l-6 cm/s), coal pulp density (ranging from 5-20% weight of coal/weight of mixure) and particle sizes (in the range of 100-150, 150-210, 210-290 micron) were considered in thee xperiment. The samples of coal slurry taken from the specific points at steady state were analyzed for their weight fraction of coal. From the statistical analysis using hypothesis testing showed that critical velocity which resulted in homogeneous distribution to a certain level in the reactor increased with the increase of coal pulp density. However, coal particle size had little effect on critical velocity.
