An Analysis of the Input Impedance of the Microstrip Antennas Using the Finite Element Method

Abstract
A simple and efficient finite element method is used for analysis of the inputimpedance of the complex planar microstrip antennas with various shapes, which includecoaxial probe feed and microstrip line feed. For the electric integral equation, the formulationis based on the Maxwell’s equations and the electromagnetic phenomena. The electricintegral equation is solved by adopting the triangular shaped basis element and usingthe Galerkin procedure. In the integral equation, Green’s functions are used. Illustrativenumerical representations that demonstrate the validity, versatility, and efficiency of themethod are presented.
