Its probability mass function, moments, mean, variance, index of dispersion and the steps for random variate generation have been obtained. The method of parameter estimation for the proposed distribution is maximum likelihood estimation. Additionally, the Poisson–exponential and gamma distribution was applied to fit some real data sets using the maximum likelihood estimation.
