Abstract

This study is quasi-experimental research and aimed to study the effects of dental health education
program by application of the protection motivation theory and social support on behavioral modification

for gingivitis prevention among students of primary school at grade 6, Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The subjects were 68 students and divided to be an experimental group and a comparison group, each group were 34 students. The experimental group was received dental health education program. The duration of implementation was 10 weeks. Data were collected by questionnaires and descriptive data were analyzed by descriptive statistic such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Comparative analysis was used Paired Sample t-test Independent, significant setting at level 0.05. The results showed that after the experiment: the experimental group had mean scores of knowledge, perceived severity, perceived
susceptibility, self-efficacy, response efficacy, intension and practice for gingivitis prevention higher
significantly than before experimental and comparison group.(p-value < 0.001). Dental plaque and
gingivitis status of experimental group decreased significantly than before experimental and comparison group. (p-value < 0.001).
