Factors Related to the Body Mass Index of Working Age Population in Don Chang Subdistrict, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

  This analytical research used interview forms to collect archival data from the working age population living in Don Chang Subdistrict. The purpose of the research was to identify the factors related to Body Mass Index (BMI). The results showed that age ranges were related to BMI with statistical significance. (p-value<0.0001, OR=4.75, CI  3.14 - 7.20) Marital status was also related to BMI with statistical significance. (p-value<0.0001, OR=6.19, CI  3.95 – 9.70) Furthermore, the occupations also showed statistically significant results in BMI. (p-value<0.0001, OR=6.0 , CI  3.99 – 9.30)  Drinking alcoholic beverages was relevant to the BMI with statistical significance. (p-value=0.001, OR = 4.23, CI  2.73 – 6.55)  Chronic diseases caused statistically significant  results in BMI. (p-value=0.007, OR = 5.89, CI  3.64 – 9.53) Eating raw meat caused statistically significant results in BMI. (p-value<0.0001, OR = 3.09, CI  2.01 – 4.75) Eating behavior affected BMI with statistically significant result. (p-value=0.025, OR = 5.37, CI  3.59 – 8.03)
