The Geographic Information System of Dormitory around King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi

Abstract

The geographic information system for King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi(KMUTT) student dormitories was studied beause a lot of new students confronted of problems to find thesuitable dormitory for them. The information of 49 dormitories around KMUTT was collected such asname, type, price, contact number and location via GPS. The information was managed and queried inArcview GIS software with base-maps scale 1:4,000 from the Information Technology and CommunicationCenter in Office of the Permanent Secretary of Transport. The students can search all informationincluded distance between KMUTT to dormitory, that was developed by avenue script.The system was tested by 100 students. Ninety percentage of the students agreed with the systemwas easy to use and useful.
