Abstract

The research was aimed to study the types of power purchase contract of the small powerproducer (SPP) using Cassava Rhizome. The power production was sold generation though the SPPprogram that was implemented by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The powerpurchase contracts of SPP were normally separated into Firm and Non-Firm contracts. In this study, two alternative contracts were compared in terms of power purchase contract, operation and economic.

The results of the power purchase contract and operation studies showed that Firm contractwas more appropriate than Non-Firm contract. Firm contract gave higher financial benefit than Non-Firm contract in that income of the power sold to EGAT for Firm contract was higher than Non-Firmcontract. Firm contract with EGAT was also unlikely to be affected by the impending restructuring andprivatization. However, Firm contract required good operation management for example maintenanceplans should be well managed to conform to SPP Grid Code. For economic study, it showed thatFirm and Non-Firm contract was both appropriate types in which the social benefit for the project oftwo contracts were not different.
