A Study of Demanding on Scientists, Technologists, and Engineers by Manufacturing Industry Clusters

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate and analyze the demand of employees with science,technology and engineering degree in three manufacturing industry clusters. These are electronics and components,automotive parts and components, and food processing industry, which has been cited as the top-three industryclusters in Thailand. Total 200 questionnaires were sent to companies in these industries, which have locatednearby the Thailand Science Park. Data from 100 companies, with fifty per cent respond rate, were analyzed byusing descriptive statistical analysis and cross tabulation. The result indicates that all three-industry clustersrequire employees with the higher education level because of the technological change. In addition, there is asignificant different in employee,s education qualification (Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, and Engineering)required among three-industry clusters.
