Viewpoints of Personnel of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi Concerning the Quality Assurance of Higher Education in Accordance with The Ministry of University Affairs

Abstract

This purpose of this research is to survey the viewpoints of personnel of King Mongkutûs University ofTechnology Thonburi (KMUTT) based on the quality assurance of higher education in accordance with TheMinistry of University Affairs. Classification of personnelûs position and faculty are considered. The questionnairesused in the research were designed in view of the quality assurance conceptual framework of The Ministry ofUniversity Affairs, as the following: (1) Philosophy, Commitments, Objectives and Implementation Plan, (2)Teaching and Learning, (3) Student Development Activities, (4) Research, (5) Academic Service to the Community,(6) Preservation of Arts and Culture, (7) Administration and Management, (8) Finance and Budgeting, and (9)QA System and Mechanisms. The questionnaires were sent to 148 academic staff and 92 supporting staffmembers. The data were obtained from a set of questionnaires having a reliability of 0.9878. The data was thenanalysed with different modes including percentage, mean, standard deviation, the t-test, and F-test. The resultsof the study showed that general viewpoints of the personnel KMUTT concerning the quality assurance of highereducation was in the moderate level in all aspects except for the Preservation of Arts and Culture, whichexhibited rather low. Personnel with different work positions tended to give different viewpoints significantly inStudent Development Activities and Preservation of Arts and Culture aspects. Finally, personnel from differentfaculties tended to show no different viewpoints in Philosophy, Commitments, Objectives and ImplementationPlan, and Research.
