Health belief model is an important factor affecting medication adherence, which is the heart of diabetes treatment. This study aimed to study health belief model and medication adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes. This is a cross-sectional study. Data were collected by using a questionnaire in 223 samples. and analyzed data by descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the top 3 health belief model were self-efficacy perception, 2.89 points (SD 0.25), cues to action, 2.89 points (SD 0.27), and perceived benefits of medication, 2.73 points (SD 0.29). 88.79% of the sample adhered to their medication. The health belief model in terms of perceived self-efficacy was significantly related to medication adherence (p<0.05). The development of pharmaceutical care to increase medication adherence use should promote patients' self-efficacy awareness.
