Positive Psychological Factors and Leadership Skills Affecting Consumer Protection Operations Among Responsible Personnel in Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals in Udon Thani Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional research study aimed to examine  positive psychological factors and leadership skills affecting health consumer protection operations among consumer protection officers in Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals, Udon Thani Province. The sample consisted of 126 consumer protection officers, selected from a total population of 206 individuals using simple random sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a researcher-developed questionnaire comprising five sections: personal characteristics, positive psychological factors, leadership skills, consumer protection operations, and problems, obstacles, and recommendations. The questionnaire's content validity was verified by a panel of experts. Data collection was conducted from October 17 to November 17, 2025, supplemented by in-depth interviews to support the quantitative findings. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied, with a statistical significance level set at 0.05. The results revealed that the overall levels of positive psychological factors, leadership skills, and consumer protection operations were at a high level (x̄ =4.13, S.D.=0.43), (x̄ =4.16, S.D.=0.44), and (x̄ =3.87, S.D.=0.54), respectively. Furthermore, positive psychological factors and leadership skills collectively predicted consumer protection operations, accounting for 33.0% of the variance (R²= 0.330, p<.001). The hope dimension of positive psychological factors was a statistically significant predictor of consumer protection operations (B=0.402, 95% CI [0.210, 0.593], p<.001), as was the ethical leadership dimension of leadership skills (B=0.317, 95% CI [0.146, 0.488], p<.001). In conclusion, positive psychological factors and leadership skills were significant predictors of consumer protection performance among consumer protection officers in Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals, Udon Thani Province.
