งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างตัวแบบสำหรับการพยากรณ์อัตราเร็วลมรายวันที่ระดับความสูง 120 เมตร ตำบลเกาะพยาม อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดระนอง ด้วยวิธีการทางสถิติ 5 วิธี ได้แก่ วิธีบ็อกซ์-เจนกินส์ วิธีการทำให้เรียบด้วยเลขชี้กำลังของโฮลต์ วิธีการทำให้เรียบด้วยเลขชี้กำลังของบราวน์ วิธีการทำให้เรียบด้วยเลขชี้กำลังที่มีแนวโน้มแบบแดม และวิธีการพยากรณ์รวม อนุกรมเวลาทิศทางลมได้มาจากศูนย์วิจัยพลังงานและสิ่งแวดล้อม มหาวิทยาลัยทักษิณ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มกราคม 2555 ถึงวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2558 จำนวน 1,369 วัน สำหรับการเปรียบเทียบความแม่นยำของตัวแบบพยากรณ์จะใช้เกณฑ์รากของค่าคลาดเคลื่อนกำลังสองเฉลี่ยที่ต่ำที่สุด ผลการศึกษาพบว่า วิธีที่มีความแม่นยำมากที่สุดคือ วิธีการพยากรณ์รวม (RMSE = 2.0306) โดยมีตัวแบบพยากรณ์ คือ
