An Emergency Alarm System: Press for Help
Main Article Content
Abstract
Feeling safe is very important to our health and well-being, particularly, when we have to stay home alone. Thus, the purposes of the research were to develop a transmitter and a receiver for an emergency alarm via a wireless network and an SMS, and to develop a system for an emergency alarm center. The transmitter and the receiver for an emergency alarm consists of a NodeMCU board, a GSM module, an EEPROM IC, indicating LEDs, an alarm speaker, an emergency push button, an on/off switch for power on and mode selection, and a power supply. Besides, a system for an emergency alarm center was implemented through a cloud platform. An emergency alarm was activated via a WiFi network or an SMS of a mobile phone. Device setting for both transmitter and receiver was done via a web browser. The power supply of the device can be both AC line with an adapter and internal batteries. The research findings showed that the 1) the transmitter and the receiver for an emergency alarm via a WiFi network and an SMS of a mobile phone function properly, 2) a system for an emergency alarm center can show status of each device properly, and 3) users were satisfied with the developed device since the device was easy-to-use.
