Abstract

This research involves the p-median problem with a step-price policy to locate native starch factories in the northeastern of Thailand. Candidate locations were selected from 261 material sources. A number of candidate locations were calculated by considering availability of cassava and demand of starches on the market. Simulated quenching (SQ) and simulated annealing (SA) algorithms were proposed for solving the problem and the results of computer experiments were analyzed and showed that SQ has more effectiveness than SA.
