Abstract
This paper presents the sorption capacities of heavy metals by soil from Mukdahan city. The amount of contaminations adsorbed in soil was measured using the batch adsorption test. Chemical analyses were performed with an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The equilibrium conditions required are around 36 – 48 hours of shaking between soils with heavy metals. The sorption capacities of heavy metals in soils ranked from the highest were copper, zinc and nickel, respectively. The highest sorption capacity by considering the and values from Langmuir isotherm. Finally, the column test is used to investigate the transportation phenomena of liquid into soil layer. The results also show the flow rate and sorption capacities of soil found in Mukdahan city.
