Abstract
The aim of this research is to study the effect of curing methods and height-to-thickness ratios on compressive strength of interlocking block masonry prisms. The curing methods chosen were indoor curing for 7, 14, 28 days and moist curing for 7, 14, 28 days. The height-to-thickness ratios of 1.6, 2.4, 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8 were studies. Prism compressive strength was determined according to ASTM C 1314. From the test results, it was found that the curing method considerably affected the prism compressive strength. However, the indoor curing tended to give higher compressive strength as compared with the moist curing for all curing ages. Increasing prism height-to-thickness ratio decreased prism compressive strength nonlinearly. In addition, the related standards for conventional masonry cannot directly apply to interlocking block masonry.
