Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the influence of prism types on the evaluation of compressive strength of interlocking block masonry. The prism types studied are those frequently used in masonry researches. It was found that each prism type gives different masonry compressive strengths. The compressive strength correlations between prisms are reported. Moreover, it was observed that the compressive strengths of interlocking block masonry obtained from all types of prisms studied do not comply with the relation between block compressive strength and masonry compressive strength which is acceptable for conventional masonry.
