Abstract
The objective of this research was to study the effect of Bagasse ash on properties of plastering cement. Bagasse ash was obtained from an electricity generating power plant. Replacement percentages of Bagasse ash in fine aggregate of sand and limestone powder were 0, 10, 15 and 20% by weight of fine aggregate. And the properties of Bagasse ash, physical and mechanical properties of plastering cement were studied. From the tested results, it was found that the plastering cement with increasing of Bagasse ash in fine aggregate, the water requirement and porosity were increased whereas the compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and bonding strength at 28 days were decreased. The drying shrinkage of plastering cement was increased when replacement percentages of Bagasse ash in fine aggregate increased. Furthermore, for the equal replacement percentages of Bagasse ash, it was found that the mechanical properties of the plastering cement with Bagasse ash in limestone powder were better than the plastering cement with Bagasse ash in sand.
