Abstract
Shear-wave velocity of soils is a very important parameter in geotechnical engineering works especially in site-response analysis. The shear-wave velocity is normally determined by borehole measurements. However, these borehole techniques are quite expensive and time consuming. Recently, there is a newly-developed method called the multi-channel analysis of surface waves or MASW. This technique is a non-invasive and less expensive than the borehole methods. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to evaluate the capabilities of the multi-channel analysis of surface wave (MASW) technique in order to determine the shear-wave velocity of the Bangkok subsoils. The results from this study demonstrated that the MASW technique could be used to determine shear-wave velocity of the Bangkok subsoils with acceptable accuracy and confidence.
