บทคัดย่อ

ดินเหนียวขยายตัว (expansive clay) เป็นวัสดุทางธรณีวิทยาที่มักถูกจัดอยู่ในกลุ่มดินที่มีปัญหา เนื่องจากมีศักยภาพการบวมตัวอิสระสูงเมื่อดูดซึมน้ำ ซึ่งมักก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายต่ออาคารหรือโครงสร้างทางวิศวกรรม สารปรับปรุงเสถียรภาพ เช่น ปูนซีเมนต์และปูนขาว ได้ถูกนำมาใช้อย่างแพร่หลายเพื่อควบคุมพฤติกรรมการบวมตัวของดินประเภทนี้ อย่างไรก็ตาม เถ้ายูคาลิปตัสซึ่งเป็นวัสดุเหลือทิ้งจากกระบวนการเผาไหม้ชีวมวล มีองค์ประกอบทางเคมีหลัก ได้แก่ แคลเซียมออกไซด์ (CaO) และแคลเซียมคาร์บอเนต (CaCO₃) จึงสามารถทำหน้าที่เป็นสารปรับปรุงเสถียรภาพทางเลือกที่มีศักยภาพ ทั้งในด้านประสิทธิภาพ ความคุ้มค่า และการใช้ประโยชน์จากของเสีย การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์พฤติกรรมการบวมตัวอิสระ (Free swelling potential: Smax) ของดินเหนียวขยายตัวบดอัดที่ได้รับการผสมบางส่วนด้วยเถ้ายูคาลิปตัส โดยใช้วิธีการผสมตื้น (Shallow mixing) เพื่อสร้างวัสดุเชิงประกอบที่มีแนวโน้มการบวมตัวลดลง การทดสอบค่า Smax ได้ดำเนินการกับตัวอย่างดินทั้งในสภาพเดิมและสภาพที่ได้รับการปรับปรุงเสถียรภาพด้วยเถ้ายูคาลิปตัส โดยพิจารณาดินสองประเภท ได้แก่ ดินสังเคราะห์จากส่วนผสมของดินเคโอลิไนท์ (Kaolinite) และเบนโทไนท์ (Bentonite) และดินเหนียวขยายตัวตามธรรมชาติจากแหล่งแม่เมาะ (Mae Moh clay) ทั้งนี้ ดินสังเคราะห์ถูกปรับสัดส่วนให้มีค่า Smax เท่ากับดินธรรมชาติ เพื่อใช้เป็นฐานในการเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพของเถ้ายูคาลิปตัสในการลดการบวมตัวภายใต้ลักษณะเนื้อดินและองค์ประกอบแร่ที่แตกต่างกัน นอกจากนี้ ได้ศึกษาผลการผสมดินด้วยเถ้ายูคาลิปตัสในสัดส่วนที่แตกต่างกัน เพื่อกำหนดปริมาณเถ้ายูคาลิปตัสที่เหมาะสมที่สุด รวมถึงประเมินอิทธิพลของอัตราส่วนความหนาของชั้นปรับปรุงคุณภาพ(Thickness ratio: Tr) ที่ได้รับการปรับปรุงเสถียรภาพ (Stabilized Thickness Ratio: STR) ต่อค่า Smax
