The Development of Geographic Information System to support a tourism in the community in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study tourism routes in the community in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, 2) to develop a geographic information system (GIS) to support a tourism in the community in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province.  This research was developed in accordance with the SDLC theory. The research instruments were a geographic information system to support a tourism in the community and a user satisfaction evaluation questionnaire. The samples were 30 users of geographic information system. They were selected by a simple random sampling technique. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive statistics namely mean and standard deviation (SD).

The findings revealed that 1) within the tourism routes in the community, there were 27 community tourist attractions. They can be classified into 4 routes: cultural tourism routes, beach tourism routes, waterfall/cave tourism routes, and eco-tourism routes. 2) The results of this system development can be used to support a tourism in the community in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The developed systems consisted five sections of database management of community tourist attractions, management of tourism routes, searching for community tourist attractions, and data visualization of community attractions and tourism routes through Google Map. The users satisfied with the geographic information system to support a tourism in the community in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province at high level ( = 4.05).
