Development of the E-Commerce System of Karen Ethnic Woven Products in Kanchanaburi Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop an e-commerce system for Karen ethnic woven fabric products in Kanchanaburi Province by applying information technology according to the system development process; 2) evaluate the performance of the developed e-commerce system; and 3) assess users’ satisfaction with the e-commerce system. This study employed a research and development (R&D) methodology. The target group consisted of five experts in systems and information technology and 120 users who were members of the Karen ethnic woven fabric group in Kanchanaburi Province, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included the e-commerce system, a performance evaluation form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were mean and standard deviation.


The research findings revealed that: 1) the e-commerce system for Karen ethnic woven fabric products in Kanchanaburi Province, developed according to the system development life cycle, provided functions covering product information management, ordering, and online payment; 2) the overall performance evaluation by experts was at the highest level (equation = 4.65, S.D. = 0.54), particularly in the aspects of benefits and implementation, and information management; and 3) the overall satisfaction evaluation was at the highest level (equation = 4.68, S.D. = 0.51). Users reported the highest satisfaction in the aspect of benefits and implementation at the highest level (equation = 4.78), followed by website format and design at the highest level (equation = 4.71). The results reflect that the system can meet practical needs and effectively enhance the potential of local products to access online markets.
