Development of Application for Measurement Hydration Status and Trekking Performance in The Ramkhamhaeng National Park Sukhothai Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) develop an application for assessing hydration balance in relation to trekking performance in Ramkhamhaeng National Park, Sukhothai Province; and 2) analyze variables and physiological responses during trekking in Ramkhamhaeng National Park, Sukhothai Province. The sample was selected from volunteer tourists trekking in Ramkhamhaeng National Park (Khao Luang Peak). The participants were divided into two groups, with 20 participants in each group: 1) a group without backpacks; and 2) a group carrying backpacks. The research instruments included an application for assessing hydration balance and a satisfaction questionnaire on the use of the application. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while variables and physiological responses between the two trekking conditions were analyzed using an independent t-test.


The research findings revealed that, in terms of product evaluation, the convenience of downloading and installing the application had a mean score of 4.36 ± 0.52. Ease of use, simplicity, appropriate placement of information on the screen, and modernity of the application were all rated at a high level. In terms of data analysis, the functions for recording trekking duration and water intake were rated at the highest level. The functions for recording basic body information, recording the number of rest periods, and providing accurate interpretation useful for understanding hydration balance were rated at a high level. In addition, body weight, rest periods, heart rate, and water intake in the backpack-carrying group were significantly different from those in the non-backpack group (p < 0.05). Trekking duration was also significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.01).
