The Development of Online Training Package on Basic Occupational Health and Safety for Industrial Factory Workers

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to develop an online training package on Basic Occupational Health and Safety for industrial factory workers based on the 80/80 efficiency criterion; (2) to compare learning achievement of trainees before and after training with the online training package; and (3) to study opinions of the trainees, who were industrial factory workers, towards the online training package on Basic Occupational Health and Safety. The research sample consisted of 310 industrial factory worker supervisors obtained by simple random sampling. The research instruments were an online training package on Basic Occupational Health and Safety for industrial factory workers, an achievement test, and a questionnaire on opinions toward the training package. Statistics used to analyze data were the mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research results showed that the developed online training package on Basic Occupational Health and Safety for industrial factory workers was efficient at 81.97/82.26, thus meeting the 80/80 efficiency criterion; the pre-training achievement mean score of the trainees was 22.42, while their post-training counterpart mean score was 42.47; t-test result showed that their post-training mean score was significantly higher than their pre-training mean score at the .01 level; and the trainees had opinions that the online training package was appropriate at the high level, with the rating mean of 3.85.
