Multimedia for Health Promotion of the Elderly in Mueang Kaen Pattana Municipality, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a multimedia for health promotion of the elderly. The sample consisted of 735 health informants obtained by simple random sampling, seven purposively selected persons for participating in multimedia production, six purposively selected persons for evaluation of the multimedia, and 30 randomly selected persons for using the developed multimedia. The employed research instruments included a note taking form for group discussion, an interview structure, a questionnaire, a media quality assessment form, a learning achievement test, and a media satisfaction assessment form. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage, E1/E2 (80/80) efficiency index, t-test, and t-score. The results showed that (1) quality assessment of the developed multimedia for health promotion of the elderly by the experts revealed that the multimedia was appropriate at the high level with the rating mean of 4.05; (2) the developed multimedia for health promotion of the elderly was efficient at 84.00/84.67 which was higher than the 80/80 criterion; (3) comparison result of learning achievement scores before and after learning from the multimedia revealed that the post-learning mean score was higher than its pre-learning counterpart at the .05 level of statistical significance; (4) the post-learning achievement scores were increased by 45.54% when compared to the pre-learning achievement scores; and (5) the satisfaction with the multimedia for health promotion of the elderly was at the high level. It can be concluded that the developed multimedia for health promotion of the elderly can be applied with the target group efficiently.
