Peer Review Process

  • Step 1: Submission and Editorial Screening

Before manuscripts are sent out for peer-review, they will first be assessed by the editors to determine their suitability for the BUILT journal. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that proper language and writing format are used in the manuscript. If the manuscript does not meet ethical standards, is not appropriate for the scope of the Journal, has a similarity index score of more than 30% using Turnitin service, or is not of sufficient merit to reach priority for publication, it may be rejected without being reviewed. If the manuscript meets the journal's requirements, it will proceed to the peer-review stage.

  • Step 2: Invite Peer Reviewers and Evaluate the Reviews

BUILT has a double-blind review process, which means that the identities of the peers and authors are kept anonymous from each other. All manuscripts will be anonymously evaluated with the double-blind review by a minimum of 3 peer-reviewers from various institutions outside Thammasat University, Thailand to assess the quality of the paper.  The section editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.  The section editors reserve all rights to revise any paper, and/or return to the author for the revision.

  • Step 3: Deliver Final Decisions

Once the author submits the revised manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief will assess the revisions and make the final decision on whether the manuscript is ready for publication within a week. The Editor-in-Chief holds the final authority on all editorial decisions. The average duration for the first decision from submission is four weeks, and from acceptance to publication is 3-4 weeks.

  • Step 4: Preparation of Final Version, Proofreading and Online Publication

After a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes a process of copyediting and formatting according to the Journal's house style. The final version is then sent to the corresponding author as a PDF file for approval. This process typically takes up to 2 weeks. After the corresponding author approves the galley proof, the Editor-in-Chief reviews it and approves it for publication. Finally, the manuscript is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number, issue, volume, and year. The current issue is then uploaded to the journal's website.
