  • 📢 New Policy Announcement: Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing

    2025-05-28

Effective for all submissions from June 1, 2025

The International Journal of Building, Urban, Interior and Landscape Technology (BUILT) is committed to ensuring transparency and ethical integrity in academic publishing. In response to the growing use of generative AI in manuscript preparation, the journal will implement a new policy requiring authors to declare any use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies during the writing process.

🔹 What Authors Need to Know:

    • Generative AI tools may be used only to improve the readability and language of a manuscript.

    • Such tools must be applied with human oversight and control. Authors remain fully responsible for the content.

    • AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

    • If AI-assisted technologies were used, a declaration must be included in the manuscript, in a dedicated section before the references.

    🔹 Not Required If:
No generative AI tools were used or if only basic tools (e.g., grammar or reference checkers) were employed.

    🔹 Policy Activation:
This declaration requirement applies to all submissions received on or after June 1, 2025.
