Abstract

This paper presents electrical energy measurement and monitoring using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The energy inspection and design are based on application for three-phase load used within buildings. The proposed system consists of Mercury Industrial PC and Schneider Power Logic PM2230 power meter which Mercury Industrial PC has RS485 port to communicate with the power meter and a built-in Wi-Fi chip system. In addition, the electrical energy is displayed on web application with a real-time and stored to a cloud database for historical energy reading.
The experimental results were carried out through the different AC loads and three-phase load used within buildings which there were measurements of voltage, current and total electrical power data. The proposed energy monitoring system has an error rate of 2.45% to obtain the correct energy consumption through testing with the different AC loads, and experiment with the three-phase load, indicating the energy monitoring error rate of 5%.
