Comparison of Heuristic-based Priority Rules for Resource-Constrained Scheduling

Abstract
Abstract
This paper presents ten case studies of single-skilled resource-constrained scheduling using twenty five heuristic-based approaches in order to compare project durations from different approaches. Provided that each resource has only one skill and the number of each resource is fixed for each case study, the results show that the Worst Case Slack Time Rule (WCS), Latest Finishing Time (LFT) and Improved Resource Scheduling Method (IRSM) approaches consistently yield shorter project durations comparing to others. The results offer useful information for selection of heuristic-based approaches for project scheduling.
