Abstract

An Assessment of the Feasibility of Designing and Installing a Waste-to-Energy Electricity Generation System in Mukdahan Province. This study focuses on defining the scope for economic feasibility analysis and analyzing environmental impacts through environmental mechanisms in accordance with the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) (baseline case only). The analysis results show that a generation capacity of 9.75 MW is optimal, with a total project value of 2,140,367,540 THB and a 20-year project lifetime under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) policy. The results of the economic analysis show a net present value (NPV) of 258,648,792.41 THB, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 7.63%, and a payback period of 8.26 years. The results of the environmental impact analysis show that, under an assumed efficiency (eff) of 80%, the generation capacity is 7.8 MW. If 5% of the generated electricity is consumed on-site, this corresponds to 0.39 MW, while the remaining 7.41 MW is supplied to the grid. The waste-to-energy power plant project has greenhouse gas emissions under the baseline case of 28,529.56 tCO₂/year. Therefore, waste-to-energy electricity generation can contribute to solving energy challenges while mitigating environmental impacts.
