Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to develop and define appropriate and comprehensive indicators for the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of power development in Krabi Province, Southern Thailand, and 2) to determine weights for the indicators to be adopted in the alternative assessment of the SEA. This study is a mixed method research collected data from the stakeholders in the area and experts through participative processes as well as reviewing documents from various sources. From the study, 4 dimensions with 16 indicators were determined consisting of 6 indicators in economic dimension, 2 indicators in social dimension, 5 indicators in environmental dimension, and 3 indicators in energy/technology security dimension. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed for weighting the dimensions and the indicators. The developed indicators were well accepted by the stakeholders in the area and relevant agencies.
