A STUDY OF KISS-AND-RIDE DRIVER’S PICK UP AND DROP OFF BEHAVIORS AT MASS TRANSIT STATION : A CASE STUDY OF MRT SILOM STATION, CHALERMRATCHAMONGKOL LINE

Abstract

The objective of this research is to study pick-up and drop-off behavior at mass transit station and to study the passenger’s mode transfer behavior via multilink transportation including driver’s behavior at kiss-and-ride areas in front of mass transit station. Difficulties concerning parking maneuvers are the main cause of traffic congestion around the kiss-and-ride area and adjacent areas. Non-participant observations during morning and evening rush hour and non rush hour periods are used for analyses. Results can be used to develop the guideline for controlling and mitigating the problem including the suggestion of more efficient measures for kiss-and-ride area management. Results of the study showed the driver to stop the car to behave. Pick up and drop off passengers on the lane in the position near the entrance - exit the most.
