Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of sports science globally, yet its application in Thailand remains in its early stages and faces several limitations. This article aims to assess the current state of AI utilization in Thailand, analyze opportunities and challenges, and propose sustainable development strategies through a systematic literature review. The findings indicate that while AI has been introduced in professional sports such as the Thai League football, tennis, and volleyball, deep integration is still lacking. Additionally, the adoption of AI in traditional Thai sports, such as Muay Thai and Sepak Takraw, has yet to receive adequate support. Key challenges include limitations in infrastructure, technology, human resources, and funding. However, there are opportunities for advancement through the development of a sports technology ecosystem, the integration of AI into sports science training curricula, and fostering collaborations among government agencies, private sectors, and academic institutions. These policy-driven strategies will help bridge the technological gap and enhance the Thai sports industry’s competitiveness on a global scale in a sustainable manner.
