Abstract
Health Promotion Model by Community’s Participation: A Case Study at Blacksmith; Blacksmith Groups, Nathon Sub-district, That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province

This study was conducted with the objective of studying health promotion models with community participation in a sample group composed of blacksmiths by using participatory action research. According to the findings, health promotion models with community participation by blacksmith groups in Nathon, That Phanom, Nakhon Phanom were: 1) Adjustment of employees’ health promoting behaviors with the shared vision among blacksmiths to practice occupational safety and create joint agreements for health promoting behavior modification; 2) Creating work conditions or environments to facilitate health promotion with blacksmiths jointly creating health promotion policies by maintaining orderly work environments with adherence to principles and 3) Support and promotion from other related agencies. The blacksmiths were found to want training and transfer of knowledge in health promotion and occupation hazard prevention, which was found to be consistent with health promotion concepts after consideration in line with the Ottawa Charter which had five items comprising forming healthy public health policies, creating supportive environments, strengthening community actions, developing interpersonal skills and re-orienting health services.
