Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the situations and problems of measurement and assessment in Science courses of the lecturers in Government Universities. By using the questionair asking Science lecturers in 7 Government University namely Thaksin , Naresuan , Khonkhan , KMUT Thonburi , Kasetsart , KMIT North Bangkok and Ubolrajthani in 5 aspects. The questionare returned rate was 131 copies (18.32%)
The results of the study were as followed
1. The knowledge about measurement and assessment aspect : most of lecturers used to analyse the objective of the curriculum and courses , know how to classify the learner group by behavioral objectives and they have learned how to measure and assess from the past experienced and from attending the workshop.
2. Tools for evaluation and measurement aspect : Most of lecturer evaluate students by quiz , mid term and final test. Most of test used was subjective type (short writing or assay). The most objective type test used was multiple choice (4 alternatives). The subjective type test could evaluate the ability of thinking and complex ability moderately. There were many methods of evaluation and most lecturers never analysed the quality of their testing tools.
