Abstract
The Colchicine induced polyploidy in Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek var. U-Thong 1 was conducted with various concentrations and duration of time. The results show that the concentration of 0.25% colcicines lasted for 6 days gave the higher frequency (30%) of polyploid while the 0.5% colchicines for 2 days yielded the lowest frequency (5%).
The other treatments show positive induction. The ployploid plant show several distinct morphology such as thicker and largerleaves with dark green color, bigger size in seeds, flowers, pollen grain and guard cells of stomata, delaying in flowering and fruiting. The chromoxome count of polyploid plant show higher number compand to the diploid plant.
