Abstract

Thc ain ofthis study was 10 prcduce valuable biomaterial by using agricllhual wasle. The prcduction ofpecrin aom Chinese cabbage waste dd the application of isolated pectin were studied. The effects of moisrue, tenperarure. pH, acid O?e md conceniration. sodiun hexa-mebphosphate concentmtion and extractio. time were investigated by opiinization melhod. The oplimll extretion condnion shown that fresh cabbages incubated wilh I M acetic eid (pH 3.0) at l00oc for 90 min in combined vith I M sodium ftexa-metaphosphate 8% (w/v). The highest anount of peclin (l.46+0.002 g%) wa! obtained under optimal condition. The chdacteristic of isolated peclin were similar to commercial pectin sp€ciied by The Joint4VHO Expert Committee on Food Addiiive (JECFA). The isolal€d pectin wa! applied for biodegndable frlm by mixing with slarch and glycercl. All filns from tftis study had 0.12.1-0.212% Fm ofthickness, 64.10-78.20% ofwater solubiliry, 1.46-5.53 N oftensile strmgth and %degradable arcmd 0-53.33% after I monlb.
