Abstract

A study on the eflect of sccd quality on growlh and fresh pod yield of Select€d_Psu yardlong bed Vas conducled al Depanment ofPlant Science, Faculty ofNatural Resourccs, Prince ofSonekla University. Songkhla du{ng December 2009 to March 2010. Three seed qualities were used : bish (93.00% Bermination), mediFm (84.50% germinalion) and low (75.00% Bernination). Two seeds were planted per hill ar spacing of 50170 ce.timeter, without replant. The resulls showed that ihe seed qualily had effect o. seed Serminatilon, harvested plant ard fresh pod yield. High qualily seeds gave the field energence of 84.06% and harleqled llant of 82.50%. medium and low seed qualiry save field emefg.ncc of 75.00 and 6,1.39% respecliqrly and haNestedplotofT0.63 and 58.13 %. respectively. High sed quality gave fEsb pod yield of2,492 kilogam periai, which was si8.ifica.tly higher than the mcdium a.d lo{ seed quality which had fresh pod yiFld of 1.902 and 1.413 kilogram per mi. respeciively. Seed quality bad no effecl on fresb pod yield qualiry of Selecled-lsuyardlong bem, in tcms of pod length and wcight. Frcm thc result, it was recommended that in Selecled-?Su yardlCng bean prcduction should be used with high seed quality due to bi8her seedling swival, havesled plot and fresh tod yield. In case growing wilh lower seed qualily should be inoeased seeding rate for betler seedling suNival, havestcd plant dd fresh pod yield.
