Required Submission Files
AJSTR requires two separate files for every submission. This is essential for the double-blind review process — the main manuscript file must contain no author-identifying information.
Sent to reviewers. Must contain NO author information.
- ✓ Title (no author names)
- ✓ Abstract + Keywords
- ✓ Introduction → Conclusion
- ✓ Figures, Tables, References
- ✗ NO names, affiliations, funding, acknowledgements
Kept by editors. Contains all author information.
- ✓ Full title
- ✓ All author names + affiliations
- ✓ Corresponding author contact
- ✓ Funding acknowledgements
- ✓ Author contributions (CRediT)
- ✓ Conflicts of interest declaration
⚠ Important: Manuscripts that include author-identifying information in the main file will be returned for correction. This does not constitute a formal rejection decision.
Manuscript Structure
All research articles submitted to AJSTR must follow this structure. Items marked Title Page only must appear only in the Title Page file, not in the main manuscript.
Formatting Requirements
- Level 1: Bold, numbered (e.g., 1. Introduction)
- Level 2: Bold, numbered (e.g., 2.1. Subsection title)
- Level 3: Bold italic, numbered (e.g., 2.1.1. Sub-subsection)
- Title case for all headings
Use Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType for all equations. Number equations sequentially in parentheses at the right margin, e.g. (1), (2). Equations are part of the text — punctuate them as regular sentences. The text following an equation does not need to be a new paragraph.
Define every abbreviation at its first appearance in the text. A list of abbreviations may be included before the References section if more than 10 abbreviations are used. Do not use unexplained abbreviations in the title or abstract.
Figures & Tables
Figures
- › File format: TIFF or JPEG; submit each figure as a separate file
- › Naming:
Figure_1.jpg,Figure_2.jpgetc. - › Caption format: Figure 1. Caption text. — placed at end of manuscript after tables
- › A scale bar is required for all figures where size or measurement is relevant
- › Multi-part figures: label each panel with an uppercase letter (A, B, C…) and save as a single file
- › In-text reference: "…as shown in Figure 1." or "(Fig. 1)"
Tables
- › Create using the Table function in Microsoft Word — not Excel, not images
- › Caption format: Table 1. Caption text. — caption and number placed above the table
- ›No vertical lines; use horizontal lines to separate topics from content
- › Include units in column/row headings in parentheses, e.g. "Temperature (°C)"
- › Footnotes placed below the table; abbreviations explained in footnotes
- › Tables must fit on a single page (21.6 × 28 cm with 2.5 cm margins)
References — ACS Style
AJSTR uses the American Chemical Society (ACS) citation style. References are numbered in order of appearance in the text (including tables and figure legends) and listed at the end of the manuscript.
📚 In-text citations: Use square brackets — [1], [1–3], or [1,3]. Place before punctuation: "...as reported previously [2]." For embedded citations with page numbers: [5] (p. 100) or [6] (pp. 101–105). Cite more than two authors as: first author et al. [4].
⚠ All references must be in English. Documents originally in Thai, Chinese, German, Japanese, or other languages must be translated. Add "(in Thai)" / "(in Chinese)" etc. in parentheses at the end of the reference. Unpublished studies may not be cited. Use "in press" for accepted-but-not-yet-published work.
Declarations & Mandatory Statements
The following statements must appear in the Title Page file. All are mandatory for accepted manuscripts.
Use the following CRediT roles. Not all roles apply to every paper — include only those relevant:
End with: "All authors have read and agreed to the published version of the manuscript."
Use one of the following templates:
Verify funding agency names at search.crossref.org/funding.
Disclose any personal circumstances or interests that could influence the research or its interpretation.
For studies using animals, include under Materials and Methods:
- Name of the ethics committee that granted approval
- Date of approval
- Permit/licence number (if available)
Ethics & Plagiarism Policy
🚫 Plagiarism Policy: All manuscripts are screened using iThenticate. Manuscripts with a similarity score exceeding 30% are automatically rejected at initial evaluation. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be corrected or retracted, and the authors' institutions will be notified.
⚠ Consistency Note: The current Author Guidelines page mentions "Turnitin" as the plagiarism tool, but AJSTR uses iThenticate. This should be corrected in the OJS CMS.
AJSTR follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for all aspects of publication ethics, including authorship, data integrity, conflicts of interest, and corrections/retractions.
