AI Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

NKRAFA Journal of Science and Technology plays a role in supporting the production of academic work. However, the use of AI must comply with research and publication ethics. Authors, reviewers, and editors must adhere to the following policies:

For Authors

Authors may use AI to assist with brainstorming, outlining, structuring, editing, improving, and proofreading language, as well as translation. However, authors must personally verify, edit, and take full responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the entire article.

Prohibitions for Authors:

  1. Generating or fabricating data, analysis, research results, research result interpretations, or conclusions.
  2. Creating or modifying images, tables, or data in a manner that causes misunderstanding.
  3. Creating non-existent or unverifiable references or citations.
  4. Listing AI or AI tools as a co-author.
  5. If AI-generated images are used, they must be explicitly identified as AI-generated.
  6. Authors should not create reference lists using AI and must thoroughly review them before submission.

Declaration of AI Use

If AI is used in the preparation of the manuscript, authors must disclose its use under the section titled "Declaration of AI Use".

Note: Using AI solely for language checking and improvement without affecting the core substance of the article does not require disclosure.

For Reviewers

  1. Reviewers must not input the manuscript, in whole or in part, including evaluation-related data, into external AI tools or services, as this may compromise the confidentiality of the manuscript and the review process.
  2. Reviewers must conduct evaluations personally and strictly adhere to the principles of confidentiality and peer-review ethics.

For Editors

  1. Editors must not input manuscripts, author details, reviewer details, or review process data into external AI tools or services that may compromise confidentiality. The decision to accept or reject a manuscript is the sole responsibility of the editor and cannot be delegated to AI.
  2. Editors may use AI to support administrative tasks or technical checks, provided it does not compromise manuscript confidentiality or replace academic judgment, and it does not conflict with AI screening systems.

Guidelines for Authors on Disclosing AI Use

Authors who use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in preparing their manuscript—beyond mere language checking and improvement—must disclose the use of AI in a section titled "Declaration of AI Use" prior to the References section.

The declaration must clearly specify the following details:

  1. Name of the AI tool used.
  2. Purpose of use.
  3. Nature or scope of usage.
  4. Authors remain responsible for the overall accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the article.

Actions Taken in Case of Non-Compliance with the AI Policy

If NKRAFA Journal of Science and Technology later discovers that a submitted article has used AI (Artificial Intelligence) systems in part or in whole in a manner that violates the prohibitions for authors—even if the article has already been accepted or published—the journal reserves the right to retract the article from publication.

The actions taken are as follows:

  1. If detected during the review process, the submission will be rejected immediately.
  1. If the article has already been accepted or published, the journal may proceed with a retraction.
  2. If a reviewer is found to have violated the AI policy, they will be removed from the list of reviewers for NKRAFA Journal of Science and Technology, and a new reviewer will be appointed in their place.
