Abstract

The Purpose of the this study deals with the use of some natural dyes to act as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCS), Nine natural dyes, extracted from natural materials such as flowers, leaves, fruits and bark have been tested as sensitizers. The adsorption characteristics of natural dyes solution in this work were shown to absorb in visible region. Dyes-sensitized solar cells are fabricated and their conversion efficiency is 0.1648%, 0.3377% and 0.1690% for the Eugenia malaccensis L., Clitoria ternatea L. and Caesalpinia sappan L. dyes, respectively. The simple preparation technique, higher absorption coefficients, wide range of absorption spectrum, widely available and low cost natural dye as an alternative sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cell is promising.
