Electric Lawn Mower Control by Smartphone with IoT System
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presented the electric lawn mower controlled by the smartphone with the Internet of Things (IoT) and remote control. The electric lawn mower helps to solve the pollution problem from using gasoline lawn mowers and solve the problem of grass cutters being in danger while cutting grass. The electric lawn mower features a geared DC motor mounted at the rear to drive the rear wheels, with caster wheels installed at the front. The electric lawn mower employs a DC electric motor for the grass-cutting blade. The Blynk application is installed on the smartphone and has designed the application page to operate the electric lawn mower with the IoT system. The NodeMCU ESP32 is connected to the IoT system via pocket Wi-Fi to receive commands from the smartphone. ESP32 controls the electric lawn mower to move forward, backward, turn left, and turn right and operates the motor-cutting. When there is no Wi-Fi signal in the grass-cutting area, the ESP32 can connect to a radio wave receiver to receive commands from the remote control. A lithium battery with a voltage of 24 V and an Ampere-hour of 30 Ah is used to supply the electronic circuits and the electric motor. The experimental results show that the electric lawn mower can move at a speed of approximately 0.526 - 2.083 m/s.
