Assessment of Occupational Heat Exposure among Power Plant Workers in the Context of Climate Change
Main Article Content
บทคัดย่อ
Heat stress in the power plant process is considered a serious threat to health and safety of workers. This study aimed to examine the perform heat stress assessment according to the WBGT index among power plant workers in the context of climate change. The study was conducted in 23 operating locations and among workers involved in the electricity production process at a power plant in Rayong Province, Thailand. The study's instruments include Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) monitor and heat stress assessment. The heat index was calculated to assess the impact of heat exposure on the study area. The results of this study shown that the wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) value during work is within the defined range 22.7-32.5 oC. The relative humidity is in the range of 67-70 percent. The metabolic rate is 198.5 kilocalories per hour can categorized as having a light workload. In comparison to the standard values established by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygiene (ACGIH) threshold limit values (TLVs) for heat stress. Most of them are within the specified range of values. Assessing potential hazards of heat exposure using heat index measures. a lot of them require extreme careful because sunstroke, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion can happen after a while of being exposure to the sun while performing physical activities. Thailand's climate could impact people's health and productivity at work.
