The Development of an information system for cultural tourism using augmented reality technology for ethnic communities in Lopburi Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to 1) investigate and collect information on the cultural identity, community lifestyles, and local wisdom of ethnic communities in Lopburi Province; 2) develop a mobile application-based information system using augmented reality (AR) technology to present cultural tourist attractions; and 3) evaluate the system's effectiveness and study user satisfaction with the developed information system. The research sample consisted of two groups: 1) 20 members of ethnic groups, and 2) 100 tourists using the system. Each group played a role in providing information, developing the system, evaluating its effectiveness, and assessing user satisfaction with the developed system. The research instruments included the developed information system, an information system effectiveness evaluation form, and a user satisfaction questionnaire. The statistical methods used for data analysis included:percentage, mean (ðĨĖ), and standard deviation (S.D.).The information system development utilized the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles for system analysis and design.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The four ethnic groups in Lopburi province have distinctive identities and have been compiled into an accurate and up-to-date information database. 2) The information system's overall effectiveness, as evaluated by five experts, was rated as "high" (ðĨĖ = 4.22, S.D. = 0.67), with the highest effectiveness in assisting users in selecting desired tourist destinations. 3) Tourists expressed high overall satisfaction with the system (ðĨĖ = 4.21, S.D. = 0.84), with the highest satisfaction in promoting tourism, the accuracy and timeliness of the information, and the system's ability to assist in travel decision-making. In conclusion, the research found that:The developed information system is effective and practical for disseminating information and preserving the cultural heritage of ethnic groups. Augmented reality technology helps create immersive experiences and serves as a key tool for driving sustainable grassroots economic development in Lopburi province.
