Nurses’ roles in families promoting to slow progressive with early stage dementia syndrome in an older adult

The increasing incidence rate continues of the dementia syndrome in older adult in Thailand. The dementia syndrome will have a negative impact such as it takes a lot of money to maintain, shortage of staffing rates, lack of expertise in care, inadequate care facilities. It is expected that Thailand is prepared to deal with the problem of dementia does not cover all issues. Current, the best practice is focus on slowing progressive with dementia syndrome. The article content consists of following; first, older adult with early stage dementia: concepts and principles care. Second, older adult care concept with early stage dementia focused on family centered. Finally, nurses’ roles in families promoting to care for an older adult with early stage dementia; assess the readiness of families and the older adult, older adult with early stage dementia care planning with family, use of coaching technique 4 components; training, guiding, counseling and development of caregivers for the elderly with dementia in the community use the family is center. The nurses support their family and evaluation of family support outcomes in nursing practice.
