Abstract

This research aimed to discover the relationship between the deflection and the dead weight of the steel pallet to estimate the deflection when the dead weight of the steel pallet varied. Finite element software was employed to create the steel pallet model, with a relative error in the deflection compared to the experiment result not exceeding 10 percent. Subsequently, the deflection at five positions obtained from finite element software when the steel pallet model was subjected to dead weights of 240, 480, 720, 960, and 1200 kilograms were used to establish the relationship equation using the regression analysis method. The research results demonstrated that the steel pallet model in finite element software can predict the steel pallet deflection with a relative error of less than 7 percent compared to the deflection results obtained from the experiment. Linear equations can estimate the deflection and the dead weight of the steel pallet. In practice applications, it is possible to calculate the deflection when the dead weight of the steel pallet is variable by employing the rule of three.
